||
<p>This section explains the pathway that normally applies to Macedonian citizens. Your exact situation may differ if you have another citizenship, permanent residence in Slovenia, completed previous education in Slovenia, international protection, or another special status.</p>
|
||

<h2>Critical eligibility distinction</h2>
|
||
|
||
<p>The national 2026/2027 subsidised-student-housing call is not automatically open to every foreign degree student. It includes Slovenian and qualifying EU categories and foreign citizens who have permanent residence in Slovenia and meet the tax-residency condition involving themselves or a parent or guardian.</p>
|
||
|
||
<p>A typical Macedonian student arriving with temporary residence usually does not meet that condition. Do not build your housing plan around receiving a subsidised public-dorm place unless the housing office confirms eligibility.</p>
|
||
|
||
<h2>Real housing routes</h2>
|
||
|
||
<h3 class="guide-substage">University or dorm room at economic price</h3>
|
||
|
||
<p>Some universities or dormitories may offer rooms to foreign students at a market or economic rate. Examples for 2026:</p>
|
||
|
||
<ul class="guide-checklist">
|
||
<li>University of Maribor dormitories publish foreign-student monthly prices from approximately €157.50 to more than €300 depending on room type.</li>
|
||
<li>University of Primorska provides student housing and publishes its own current conditions and price lists.</li>
|
||
<li>University of Nova Gorica has limited university housing; a July 2026 call listed the Gorizia residence for EU students.</li>
|
||
<li>University of Ljubljana states it does not generally provide housing to degree-seeking international students.</li>
|
||
</ul>
|
||
|
||
<p>These examples must be checked for the student’s year and eligibility.</p>
|
||
|
||
<h3 class="guide-substage">Private room or apartment</h3>
|
||
|
||
<p>Prepare for: deposit, first rent, utilities, contract, address registration, furniture, internet, notice period, and shared-house rules.</p>
|
||
|
||
<h2>City differences</h2>
|
||
|
||
<h3 class="guide-substage">Ljubljana</h3>
|
||
|
||
<p>Highest housing pressure. Start early. Verify transport to the faculty rather than insisting on the centre. Useful routes: private rental, faculty-supported boarding-home enquiries, and non-subsidised dijaski dom places where available. As a self-funded foreign degree student you cannot get a subsidised Studentski dom place, but some boarding homes that are not full take students on a non-subsidised basis, usually arranged through your faculty (for example Dijaski dom Vic, Gerbiceva 52a).</p>
|
||
|
||
<p>For private rooms, the free m2 room-brokerage service run by the student counselling house can help. It is at Studentska hisa SRCe, Zidovska steza 6, Ljubljana, telephone 080 98 67, web svetovalnica.com/sobe.</p>
|
||
|
||
<h3 class="guide-substage">Maribor</h3>
|
||
|
||
<p>Študentski domovi UM publish economic or market prices for foreign students. Check room type, building, deposit, summer conditions, and whether the address can be registered.</p>
|
||
|
||
<h3 class="guide-substage">Koper and Primorska</h3>
|
||
|
||
<p>Use Študentski domovi UP, the Welcome office, Student Point, private listings, and faculty contacts. Coastal seasonal demand can affect contracts and summer availability.</p>
|
||
|
||
<h3 class="guide-substage">Nova Gorica, Vipava, Ajdovščina, and Postojna</h3>
|
||
|
||
<p>The University of Nova Gorica student office actively connects students with rooms and landlords across the region. Contact: studentska.pisarna@ung.si, +386 5 331 5234 or +386 5 909 9717. Accommodation in Gorizia is in Italy; confirm residence, health, tax, and commuting implications before signing.</p>

||
<h3 class="guide-substage">Celje and smaller centres</h3>
|
||
|
||
<p>Supply is smaller. Search through the institution, local listings, dormitories, and verified contacts.</p>
|
||
|

<p>The contract should identify parties, exact room and address, rent, deposit, utilities, payment date, duration, notice period, inventory, address-registration permission, rules for guests and shared areas, summer conditions, and the deposit-return process.</p>

<h2>Move-in record</h2>
|
||
|
||
<p>Photograph walls, furniture, appliances, meters, keys, and existing damage. Send the record to the landlord and keep it.</p>
