What recognition means
Recognition determines whether education completed abroad gives access to the Slovenian programme for which you are applying.
For bachelor admission, the institution examines secondary education. For master admission, it examines the bachelor qualification and whether it meets the level and field requirements.
Where the process begins
For study admission, the request is normally submitted as part of the eVŠ application. The higher-education institution handling the application also handles the recognition needed for that admission process.
Standard evidence
Official guidance lists:
- Original diploma or certificate
- Copy of the diploma or certificate
- Certified Slovenian translation
- Transcript, diploma supplement, annual reports, or other evidence of content and duration
- Short chronological description of the complete education, written and signed by the applicant
- Additional evidence requested by the institution
The institution decides which documents and translations are necessary in the individual case.
Bachelor package
Prepare:
- Final secondary-school certificate
- Annual reports
- Final-exam or matura evidence
- Translation where requested
- Education history
- Passport
- Programme-specific evidence
Master package
Prepare:
- Bachelor diploma
- Transcript
- Diploma supplement
- Translation where requested
- Education history
- Course descriptions if field compatibility is unclear
- CV and motivation letter where required
Certified translation
Do not assume that an ordinary personal translation is sufficient. Where the call requires a certified translation, use a translator accepted for official purposes and follow the language requested by the institution.
Some institutions may accept English translations or may waive translation for certain documents. Obtain this in writing.
Legalisation and verification
There is no universal statement that every Macedonian document needs, or does not need, an apostille. The required verification can depend on the document, the applicable agreement, the procedure, and the institution. Check the current call and the written request.
Outcome
The recognition decision may:
- Confirm access
- Request more evidence
- Require additional obligations
- Determine that the qualification does not grant the requested access
Common mistake
Submitting a diploma without evidence of subjects, grades, and duration. A qualification title alone may not be enough for the institution to understand the education completed.
